My kids continue to amaze me

I received a letter from the school today asking for permission to test Tyler for gifted and talented. I know that he is a very smart child but I guess I just thought that he would make good grades and not have to struggle with school. I never thought that G&T was a possibility. He is very excited about wanting to do it so that he can "Do work that isn't so boring". My first reaction was to not let them test him because I was in G&T for a few years and did not like being singled out. After talking with Tyler I have decided that it may be very good for him and that I should not keep this opportunity from him. We will see what happens.

Kelsey, who was diagnosed with ADHD in first grade, amazes me as well. She is in 7th grade this year and has all A's & B's. Once she learned how to work around the issues that she had at school she has been on the honor roll for the last 4 years. She frustrates me because she is so unorganized but she always manages to surprise me with her intelligence.

I know I am a little bias since they are my kids, but they are amazing! I am so blessed to have such healthy, beautiful and wonderful children.

Easter

It seems like the older I get the more I realize how different the holidays are from when I was a kid. This Easter was very depressing for me. As long as I can remember we have always spent Easter with my grandparents and my parents. This year however everything was out of sorts. My grandpa had just gotten out of the hospital and my parents are in the middle of building a house and it totally consumes their time. No one made any plans or invited us anywhere so we just stayed home. We colored eggs and then the kids hunted them in the swamp in the backyard. I tried really hard to stay upbeat and make it fun for the kids but all I really wanted to do was feel sorry for myself because things weren't the way I wanted. I had gone out and bought the kids new clothes to wear and they are still in the closet with the tags on them. It all makes me realize that my grandparents are getting older and things will not always be the way I remember them. I just want my kids to remember the family traditions we have always had when they are my age.

New to this

I decided I would try to do this blog thing. I don't know how long I will keep it up but thought it might make it easier to communicate with distant friends and family.
